Alta. Man shares $ 5 million lottery win … himself

EDMONTON – A man from Calmar, Alta., Accidentally bought two lottery tickets with the same numbers for the same drawing – and won.

Andrew Burke would have won the $ 5 million lottery 6/49 jackpot on one ticket, but because he bought two of the same, he won $ 2.5 million on each ticket.

“The owner came in and said, ‘What did you do Andy, did you break my machine?'” Burke said in a Lotto 6/49 publication. “The clerk then told me you won $ 2.5 million – and I said she’d better check the other ticket because they’re the same numbers!”

Burke, who bought the tickets at Fas Gas at 5001 50 Avenue in Calmar, says he is now on vacation from his job until further notice and plans to renovate his house, restore his Land Rover and travel to the UK.
