2nd Bundesliga: Dennis Diekmeier and SV Sandhausen defeat FC St. Pauli

Ex-HSV player Dennis Diekmeier played a key role in SV Sandhausen’s 1-0 win against FC St. Pauli. His shot on the guests’ goal was deflected into his own goal in the 45th minute by Pauli defender Daniel Buballa. Julius Biada prepared the goal with a great solo.

FC St. Pauli, with four goals against 1. FC Heidenheim last weekend, was the stronger team at the beginning and missed several opportunities in the early stages. A great opportunity to equalize was missed in the 76th minute by Sebastian Ohlsson, who shot just over the goal with a drop kick. Jannes Wieckhoff missed the guest gate by just inches in the 89th minute.

Sandhausen is at the top with six points after three match days, FC St. Pauli is four points after a win, a draw and a defeat.

VfL Bochum and VfL Osnabrück split 0-0 in the second Friday night game. Over long distances, 4231 spectators saw a low-chance game at a manageable level. After the presentation of the former Osnabrücker Simon Zoller, Bochum’s center forward Silvere Ganvoula had the 1-0 on the foot, but only hit the post from three meters (20th minute).

Overall, the Bochum team were the more active team, but did not make enough of their superiority. Osnabrück’s Bashkim Ajdini saw yellow-red in the final phase for repeated fouls (83rd).

Due to the draw, both teams remain undefeated and have five points in their account after three games.
