West Coast Eagles defeat Essendon, Nic Nat against Sam Draper

The West Coast Eagles’ formidable form continues after dealing with Essendon at the Gabba Tuesday night.

The Bombers led the game and didn’t make it easy as the Eagles secured a 6.6 (60) to 6.9 (45) victory.

The win puts the club in the top 4 of the rankings with only three games left and gives them nine wins from their last 10 games.

Essendon refused to give up the competition, and tension escalated in the third quarter when the young ruckman Sam Draper decided to take on Nic Naitanui.

Naitanui has been in the best shape of his career this season and has consistently outperformed his rivals, but Draper didn’t let him jump overhead.

After a jerk competition, the boy wrestled with his high-flying opponent and it dragged on as the two men scratched the lawn before being pulled apart by teammates.

Livewire striker Liam Ryan led the Eagles by scoring four goals with the towering Jack Darling ending with two.

Essendon dominated the majority of the stats across the board. Six players recorded more than 20 departures compared to just one Eagles player.

Unfortunately, they couldn’t use the majority of the possessions and their inaccuracy in front of the gate cost them in the end.

Both teams face a brief turning point before their next games. Essendon will face Geelong on Sunday afternoon before the Eagles take on the Western Bulldogs on Sunday evening.
