WATCH: Naomi Osaka gets a huge surprise at the 2020 US Open

Japanese star Naomi Osaka got off to a great start at this year’s US Open. She beat compatriot Misaki Doi in her first match and subsequently defeated Camila Giorgi in the second round.

In the post-match interview, Osaka had an incredibly funny interaction with her mom, which everyone should see.

How can you see, Osaka’s mother called her during her post-game interview. Seeing this, the Japanese star wondered where his father was and, apparently, he wasn’t invited. They continued to converse in Japanese and then, the call was ended by Naomi who nonchalantly said, “Okay, hello mom, I’ll call you later.”

Her mom’s phone call was a big surprise to Naomi, especially since it was on a good note. He demolished his opponent 6-1, 6-2, and it was the first time in a while we’ve seen Osaka at her best.

As any tennis fan knows, the period from 2018 to 2019 was absolutely fantastic for the Japanese star. She won the US Open 2018 by beating Serena Williams, the Australian Open 2019, and also became the number 1 in the world. Many thought it would be unstoppable, but unfortunately it wasn’t.

After the Australian Open 2019, Naomi split from manager Sascha Bajin, which didn’t work well for her. She lost in the early rounds of events and couldn’t even defend the Grand Slam she won.

Hoping to return to his best, Osaka hired coach Wim Fissette. However, we failed to see the effect of his coaching due to the pandemic. Now, it appears to have had a positive effect on Japanese power and she may very well win her 3rd Grand Slam in New York.
