Former Warriors point guard Shaun Livingston will return to the organization after being hired as a member of the Golden State front office, according to Marcus Thompson of The Athletic.
Livingston, 35, retired after 14 NBA seasons in 2019. He will join the Warriors as director of player affairs and engagement.
According to Thompson, the addition of Livingston kicks off a concerted effort by the Warriors to hire more minority candidates in their front office. And it looks like Golden State is looking to expand its goals across the league.
“The stated aim of the Warriors is to create a pipeline that powers the league by giving potential customers a chance at the lower levels,” wrote Thompson. “The experience and connections they accumulate will make them viable candidates later in their careers, even if not with the Warriors.”
Livingston played for nine teams in his 14-year career, making his biggest footprint with Golden State. He has spent his last five seasons with the Warriors, a period which has marked five consecutive Finals appearances and three championships. Livingston clocked 1,418 playoff minutes and 498 points in 81 postseason games with Golden State.
