Vinales Often Has Difficulty While Racing, This Said Rossi

Jakarta

Monster Energy Yamaha’s rider, Maverick Vinales, often struggled during races. Valentino Rossi revealed the reason.

At the San Marino MotoGP, Sunday (9/13/2020) evening WIB, Vinales finished sixth. He failed to take advantage of starting from the pole position.

Vinales clocked 42 minutes 7.655 seconds to complete 27 laps in the sixth series of MotoGP this season. He was 5.383 seconds slower than Franco Morbidelli who won the race at Misano.

In this season, this is not the only time that Vinales has failed to take advantage of his leading start. In the Austrian MotoGP, the 25-year-old rider also took pole. At the end of the race, he was ranked 10th.

Vinales’ team mate, Rossi, revealed the reason the Spaniard had trouble competing on race day.

“Some things also depend on the DNA of each rider. Maverick is very strong on flying laps, he often records impressive times, and throughout my career I have always been stronger during the race,” said Rossi at GP One.

“But, today the front tire made the difference, Vinales put on the hard tire, I also thought that I would make the same choice. But, I then changed my mind 10 minutes before starting. That was key,” said the 41-year-old rider added.

Vinales has not managed to win in the six MotoGP 2020 series. Since winning the second podium in the Spanish MotoGP and the Andalusian MotoGP, he has not been able to return to the podium again.

Meanwhile, Rossi has only finished on the podium just once. The Doctor achieved it when he finished third in the Andalusian MotoGP.

With the appearance of the riders, the Yamaha factory team lost to the satellite team in the MotoGP team standings. Petronas Yamaha SRT is in the top position with 127 points, 11 points ahead of the factory team.
