Villanova manager Jay Wright says he is not a candidate for the opening of the 76ers

Villanova manager Jay Wright said he has no interest in the opening of the Philadelphia 76ers manager.

Wright said he felt the need to address speculation about the role as his name appeared in rumors following the team’s recent layoff of Brett Brown.

“As a lifelong 76ers fan, I am confident that they will bring the right coach to build on what Brett Brown has developed,” Wright She said. “I am not a candidate for the position. I am very happy and honored to coach at Villanova”.

Wright’s name has surfaced several times in recent years in the rumors surrounding the 76ers’ work. Athletic’s Shams Charania recently reported that Wright was among the possible candidates on the team’s radar this offseason.
