Miles away from the best: Tiger Woods fails prematurely on the cut at the US Open. But it’s not just the lack of power that is currently bothering the golf star.
Tiger Woods not only missed the cut at the 120th US Open on the West Course of the Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck (New York). He has also been taught better by a younger generation of power golfers. “It is imperative that you hit the fairways on this course, and I didn’t do that,” said the 44-year-old American after making the cut (146) after rounds of 73 and 77 and a total of 150 strokes (10 over par) clearly missed.
The Masters champion, now only in 21st place in the world rankings, was already scattering heavily from the tee like in his last tournaments. He only hit eleven of the 28 fairways on the first two days. But the two front runners proved that you can achieve excellent results on the course in northeast New York City without the ball landing on the 14 par 4 and the two par 5 holes in the short-cut grass.
