Hertha BSC wants to go big. At the moment the club doesn’t even have a main sponsor. At Trigema, the Berliners are said to have been thrown off. Group boss becomes clear. Especially towards investor Lars Windhorst.
Hertha BSC has big plans with investor Lars Windhorst. But despite the millions invested and the theoretically bright future of the club, the Berliners are still without a main sponsor a few days before the season. It is completely unclear who it could be. With one company, on the other hand, it is now certain that it is not going to hurt Hertha: Trigema.
As the “FAZ” reports, Hertha wanted to win the German company over. According to this, the Berliners created a presentation tailored to the sports and leisure clothing manufacturer and presented them to the company from Burladingen in Swabia. Trigema, which was Hertha’s main sponsor in the 1990s, was supposed to pay 4.5 million euros per year.
But it doesn’t come to that. According to the report, “Trigema” boss Wolfgang Grupp (78) rejected the offer. The decision apparently has several reasons – one of them is Windhorst.
“Insolvency has become modern today”
About the investor, who has already been insolvent several times, Grupp says: “Insolvency has become modern today, a peculiar offense.” And further: “They are gentlemen, 100 million euros do not matter. You play poker, you buy football players, even though you don’t have the money. And if you go bankrupt, the taxpayer pays it, and you start something new yourself. “
Grupp also makes it clear that a collaboration would not have come about without Windhorst. On the one hand, the sponsorship is too expensive, on the other hand, Grupp has not forgotten their common past. At that time there was a dirty breakup including a legal battle, which Grupp claims to have won. Hertha is said to have accused him of having Trigema paid too little.
The entrepreneur said: “Yesterday they tried to betray me. Then suddenly, twenty years later, I’m supposed to help Hertha again. “
