CHARLOTTE – The Panthers called for three players to drop out following the downsizing on Saturday: defensive back Rasul Douglas, defensive end Shareef Miller and attacking tackle Trent Scott.

The Eagles selected Douglas in the third round of the 2017 draft. The 6-foot-2, 209-pound cornerback has played 46 games with Philadelphia, starting at 18 in the past three seasons. In 2019 alone, Douglas started six games, recorded 10 defensive passes and three tackles for a loss. He has five career interceptions.

Miller was a fourth-round pick for the Eagles last year, but made just one appearance as a rookie in Philadelphia’s Week 8 win over Buffalo. The Penn State product had two special team shots in that contest.

Scott played under Panthers offensive line coach Pat Meyer with the Chargers for the past two seasons, giving Scott immediate familiarity with the Carolina coaching staff. He initially signed with Los Angeles as an undrafted free agent out of Grambling State in 2018. Scott replaced an injured Russell Okung at left tackle for the first seven games of 2019, for nine starts in total.

As the corresponding roster shifts, Carolina has relinquished safety Kenny Robinson, defensive end Efe Obada and offensive tackle Matt Kaskey. Robinson was a fifth-round pick in this spring’s draft, Obada has appeared in 26 games in the past two seasons after emerging in the NFL’s International Player Pathway program, and Kaskey has spent most of last season in the Panthers training team.
