Source – Leonard Fournette files $ 4.167 million grievance against Jags

Leonard Fournette has officially filed a grievance against the Jacksonville Jaguars in an attempt to recoup the $ 4.167 million base salary the team waived, a source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Tuesday.

The Jaguars gave up on Fournette on Monday. They didn’t choose his fifth-year option during the offseason and actively pursued an exchange without receiving serious offers.

Fournette was not claimed in the waiver process.

The team had canceled any remaining guarantees in their rookie contract following their one-game suspension for fighting with Buffalo Bills linebacker Shaq Lawson in 2018. Fournette left the bench area, crossed the field and hit Lawson, claiming he was defending teammate Carlos Hyde.

Fournette said he would file a grievance to get the guaranteed money back, but that wasn’t something that could be done until the Jaguars cut him off. As long as he was under contract, he would receive money.

Michael DiRocco of ESPN contributed to this report.
