Peters reigns in the Pyrenees and Yates wears the yellow jersey

The French cyclist Nans Peters (AG2R La Mondiale) won this Saturday in the eighth stage of the Tour de France, disputed between Cazères-sur-Garonne and Loudenvielle over 141 kilometers, while the British Adam Yates (Mitchelton-Scott) has managed to retain the yellow jersey.

The 26-year-old from Genoble has managed to break away from the Russian Ilnur Zakarin (CCC Team), his teammate in the last breakaway of the day, missing less than 30 kilometers of goal. After crowning the Col de Peyresourde alone, he has faced the last ten kilometers of descent more calmly and has entered the finish line of Loudenvielle alone, adding this victory to the stage victory in the 2019 Giro d’Italia.

This Sunday will be the ninth stage, second in the Pyrenees, between Pau and Laruns over 153 kilometers, in which the ports of l’Hourcère and Soudet will be distributed before facing the steep climbs that lead to the top of the Marie Blanque pass; from there, they will head to Laruns. The first day of rest will arrive on Monday.
