Patrice Evra names Ed Woodwards’ only problem at Manchester United

Patrice Evra has urged Manchester United Vice Chairman Ed Woodward to be more suspicious of people’s motives in the transfer window.

The former United left-back criticized the club’s previous transfer activity in this window. While he refused to criticize Woodward in a 20-minute video posted on his own social media channels, he said the 48-year-old was trusting it too.

Evra also warned of the dangers of leaving transfer negotiations in the hands of Matt Judge, with an emphasis on the bookkeeping that costs United in the transfer window.

Only Donny van de Beek has been signed so far this summer, and after United lost to Crystal Palace on the opening day of the season, Evra taped a video at home raving about the plight of his former club.

“The only problem I would tell Ed Woodward is that he trusts people and should never trust them. He even trusts some people outside of the club, I can tell,” he said.

“People like Richard Arnold are the reason we have the money. These people can get into a sponsorship deal like you can’t imagine. So we have the money, but we don’t have the players because we’re sending the wrong people. ” Talk to them.

“Ole is trying to change that, he’s trying to talk to the player like Ferguson used to do.”

Evra insists that United doesn’t need to sign half a dozen players to improve the team, but that more efforts should be made to hit top targets like Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho.

“Every year it’s Deja Vu, we make so much of an impact on social media, but the reality is [nothing]. Fans need to understand that you are not buying five, six, seven players that the team will improve, but at least your main goal, we don’t anymore, “he said.

“Under Fergie and David Gill we had nothing in the papers except Bam-Bam-Bam-Bam, Van Persie, Evra, Vidic, Ferdinand, everything was fast, they go and talk face to face.

“But now it’s Matt Judge, we send lawyers to talk to players and if you send a lawyer to talk about numbers, they’re not people from the football world.”
