OFFICIAL: Leicester City Officially Bring Timothy Castagne From Atalanta

Castagne adds to the Belgian feel at Leicester. Now, he is joined by two of his compatriots, Youri Tielemans and Dennis Praet.

Leicester City officially signed fullback from Belgium, Timothy Castagne (24 years), from Atalanta on Thursday (3/9).

Castagne was signed by Leicester for £ 21.5 million. The player who is proficient at right and left back has agreed a contract until June 2025.

Castagne was plotted as a replacement for Leicester’s former left-back, Ben Chilwell, who moved to Chelsea.

Next season, Castagne will compete with Christian Fuchs (34 years) and Luke Thomas (19 years) for the first team Brendan Rodgers. Meanwhile, Ricardo Pereira is still sidelined with a serious knee injury.

Before inaugurating Castagne, Leicester had been linked with teammates at Atalanta, Robin Gosens and Nicolas Tagliafico from Ajax. However, the purchase price of the last two names is too expensive.

Castagne was brought in by Atalanta from Belgian club Genk in the 2017/18 season. He has contributed a total of eight goals and ten assist for the club from Bergamo.

Last season, Castagne helped Atalanta finish third in the Serie A final and reach the Champions League quarter-finals before crashing out of Paris Saint-Germain.

Now, Castagne is part of the Belgian national team squad for matches in the UEFA Nations League against Denmark, Saturday (5/9) and Iceland, Tuesday (8/9) local time.

Leicester will start the English Premier League 2020/21 season by visiting the headquarters of the promotion club, West Bromwich Albion, at The Hawthorns on Sunday (13/9).
