BERGSTRASSE – (red). BV Lampertheim and SG Groß-Rohrheim are joining forces for the first time for the 2020 badminton season. In recent years, both teams have repeatedly had the problem of not being able to play all games in full strength, as individual players were canceled due to work, illness or pregnancy. As the “Spielgemeinschaft Ried”, two teams are now competing in the Darmstadt district. The first team, which is largely made up of Lampertheim players, competes in the district league A, while the second team plays in the district league B. The whole thing has several advantages: short-term failures can be better replaced because you have access to a long list of substitute players. In addition, the training times of the partner club are now available to all club members. Another advantage is that this brings a breath of fresh air into the training operations, as interesting, varied game pairings are created.
At the weekend, both teams were allowed to compete in the first round match. While the first team around team captain Daniel Mahn performed very well and secured second place in the table with a 6-2 win against SG Groß -zimmer / Dieburg IV, the second team around team captain Manuel Hegemann had a very difficult time against TV Bensheim VI . Although some games were also very close or were only decided in the third set, the second team lost very clearly with 1: 7.
