MotoGP San Marino Results – Morbidelli Champion, Rossi Failed on the Podium

KOMPAS.com – Franco Morbidelli won the 2020 San Marino MotoGP. Meanwhile, Francesco Bagnaia took second place, while Valentino Rossi had to settle for finishing fourth.

The San Marino GP, which is the sixth series in the 2020 MotoGP schedule, was held at the Misano Circuit, Rimini, on Sunday (9/13/2020) evening WIB.

Previously, at MotoGP Styria, Miguel Oliveira from the Red Bull KTM Tech3 team emerged as the winner.

In this San Marino MotoGP, four Yamaha riders occupy the four front grids.

Maverick Vinales (Monster Energy Yamaha), who emerged as the fastest in the qualifying session, started the race from pole position, followed by the Petronas Yamaha SRT duet, namely Franco Morbidelli and Fabio Quartararo.

Vinales’ partner at Monster Energy Yamaha, Valentino Rossi, completes Yamaha’s dominance in the qualifying session by occupying the fourth grid.

The course of the 2020 San Marino MotoGP race

Franco Morbidelli started the race very well. He took the lead moments after the start, followed by Valentino Rossi in second place.

Meanwhile, Vinales was third, followed by Jack Miller.

Morbidelli maintained his position until he entered Lap 2. Behind him, Rossi continued to apply pressure.

Miller pushed to third after he successfully beat Vinales. In the two leading positions, Morbidelli and Rossi were involved in a fierce duel with a distance of only 0.3 seconds.

Lap 7, Vinales lost fourth position after he was overtaken by Fabio Quartararo. After that, however, Quartararo fell at Turn 4 so that Vinales returned to number four.

However, Quartararo was able to continue the race.

Entering Lap 10, Vinales’ position slipped further after successively smoked by Alex Rins and Francesco Bagnaia.

Meanwhile, Morbidelli still leads the race with Rossi trailing him in second place.

Lap 12, Morbidelli began to widen the distance with Rossi to 0.7 seconds.

On Lap 14, Rins nudged to third after beating Miller.

Rins really showed his skill at the San Marino MotoGP race. The Suzuki racer began to threaten Valentino Rossi’s position when the race left 13 more laps.

In the leading position, Morbidelli consistently maintains his distance in front of Rossi, even reaching 2 seconds when entering Lap 18.

When the race left seven laps, Quartararo fell again. This time, he couldn’t continue racing.

The race for the top three is getting fiercer after Rossi lost second place after being overtaken by Rins and Bagnaia. However, The Doctor could take third place from Rins on Lap 22.

The duel for second place heats up when the race leaves five laps. Bagnaia, Rossi and Rins had a fierce duel for second place.

In the leading position, Morbidelli is getting further away from his opponents.

Franco Morbidelli was finally able to win the 2020 San Marino MotoGP race with a total time of 42 minutes 2.272 seconds. Meanwhile, the second position belongs to Francesco Bagnaia.

Meanwhile, Valentino Rossi had to settle for finishing fourth after he was overtaken by Joan Mir on the last lap.
