Merger with Sintra Football? Estrela da Amadora’s third life goes to votes

The members of the mythical Estrela da Amadora, refounded in 2011 under the name of Clube Desportivo Estrela, vote on Saturday to merge the club with Club Sintra Football. The historic club of Reboleira (Amadora) changed its name, but did not lose the mystique of the tricolor emblem that once won the Portuguese Cup in 1990 (pledged for debts owed to a player and to the court guard) and now wants to merge with the young emblem of Sintra founded in 2007.

If approved, the new club will retain the name, but the English version. Before it was Clube de Futebol Estrela da Amadora and will become Club Football Estrela da Amadora SAD. The old symbol has also been recovered by the club and will be transferred to the future SAD. “This is the resurgence of Estrela. It is the possibility of a national football history to return to I Liga in two or three years. It is a seven-year leap in time,” the source of the merger process assured DN.
