Frustrating United Loan Situation

Manchester United have been frustrated with the advancement of some loan agreements for their young players during this transfer window, but expect others to leave before the 5 October deadline.

Midfielder Dylan Levitt became the latest youngster to sign a temporary contract this week, joining League One Charlton Athletic for the season just days after making his Wales debut.

Tahith Chong has already joined Werder Bremen on loan, while goalkeeper Matej Kovar has arrived in Swindon Town, also in League One.

Midfielder James Garner is also expected to leave shortly, with the Huddersfield league side interested in borrowing the 19-year-old.

But Under 23 boss Neil Wood expects more players to go, with those who played regularly for his squad last season are likely to come out for a taste of senior football.

This could lead to moves for the likes of Ethan Laird, Di’Shon Bernard, and Ethan Galbraith, with Wood eager for players who have a developmental football season behind to experiment with a loan move.

But he admits progress has been slow in ordering some of these deals, with the transfer window remaining open for just over three weeks.

Here’s what Wood said
