Eagles Cut CB Sidney Jones, DE Shareef Miller

The Eagles make some very notable cuts as they move up to 53. Philadelphia let go of the cornerback Sidney jones and defensive end Shareef miller, Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network (Twitter connections).

Jones had some bad luck. A sure-fire first-round pick in 2017 in Washington, he tore his Achilles on his pro day and ended up falling to the 43rd pick where the Eagles picked him up. He won a Super Bowl with the team that year, although he was inactive for the playoffs and only played in the Week 17 Finals. He played 21 and started eight. matches over the past two years, but has never been able to regain his pre-injury form.

He’s also dealt with additional health issues, missing time due to hamstring injuries in each of the past two seasons. The fact that he could never establish himself in Philly’s often deplorable secondaries may have been a wake-up call.

Miller was drafted in the fourth round last year. It’s clear that they never felt good about going for the Penn State product, as it appeared in just one game as a rookie. Both players could be candidates for the practice squad if they get waivers.
