Manchester United’s Under 23s are back in action this afternoon as preparations continue for the new Premier League 2 season.
Neil Wood’s team will travel to Yorkshire to face League One Doncaster Rovers at Keepmoat Stadium, with the hosts fielding a senior team in the friendly.
United’s Under 23s have been busy in the pre-season. Their fun 3-3 draw with Huddersfield Town on Saturday is followed by friendlies against Salford, Swindon and Morecambe.
They are gearing up for a return to Premier League 2 Division One after securing promotion last season in a campaign interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The trip to Yorkshire will be another chance to impress youngsters like Teden Mengi, James Garner and Hannibal Mejbri, even though Dylan Levitt is now on a senior international away match with Wales.
United’s pre-season campaign was supposed to end with a friendly against Everton this weekend, but the match was postponed. Their first game of the new season will be against Salford City at the Peninsula Stadium next Wednesday (9 September) in the EFL Trophy.
