Debut at Atletico Madrid, Luis Suarez: I need fresh air

Suarez became the first Atletico player to score two goals on his debut match. Plus one assist, he is also the first since the 21st century.

Atletico Madrid striker, Luis Suarez (33 years), revealed that he needed a new atmosphere behind his decision to leave Barcelona.

Suarez has spent the last six years [sejak musim 2014/15] with Barcelona. On Friday (25/9), the Uruguayan bomber was officially transported by Atletico worth € 6 million.

Most recently, Suarez marked his sweet debut with Atleti with a score of two goals and an assist when Los Colchoneros beat Granada in the third LaLiga tournament with a score of 6-1 at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium, Sunday (27/9).

Amazingly, Suarez was only introduced in the 71st minute. He replaced Diego Costa and Atletico were leading 3-0.

Diego Costa, Angel Correa and Joao Felix each scored Atletico’s first three goals. Suarez delivers assist to Marcos Llorente for the fourth goal before packing up a pair of closing goals for his new team.

“Very good. I am very happy to debut and these three points,” said Suarez post-match to the Spanish media, Movistar.

“When you make your debut and help the team by scoring goals, you must be happy.”

“This is a moment where I need fresh air. This change is important and I have to accept it.”

“I have come to a club that has welcomed me spectacularly. The atmosphere here has been very good from the start and that is reflected on the pitch,” he concluded.

The match will be Atletico’s first match in the 2020/21 LaLiga season. You see, Diego Simeone’s squad [dan Barcelona] given a break of more than two weeks after being eliminated by RB Leipzig in the Champions League quarter-finals, mid-August.
