Arturo Vidal: Barcelona must ‘change many things’

Arturo Vidal talked about where everything went wrong for Barcelona on the pitch and how the team can improve.

The Catalan giants are coming out of the back of a difficult season in which they lost La Liga to Real Madrid and were beaten 8-2 by Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

Vidal says a lot needs to change at Camp Nou and offered his thoughts on what needs to happen.

“Barcelona must first change their way of thinking because football has evolved a lot, their DNA is already late and the other teams are improving in other respects; football at the moment is more physical, with more strength and speed, and technique sometimes takes a back seat

“Barcelona have to change a lot of things. A team, which in my opinion is the best in the world, cannot have 13 professional players and the others are young. Not because they don’t deserve to be there, but they have to compete with the best and with who has to play.

“All teams have 23 players fighting for positions, growing and improving every day; But when they don’t progress, when you think that with your DNA you can always win, you’re wrong.

“There are excellent players, we have Messi who is number one and an alien, but he needs help, he needs players who improve the team and give better results.”

It is unclear if Vidal will be part of the team next season. Reports have suggested it is not part of Ronald Koeman’s plans and there have been rumors of a move to Serie A.

Vidal also spoke of the speculation and said he would be “happy” if he received a phone call from the new Juventus manager Andrea Pirlo.
