‘Anderlecht wants to close the transfer market with one last acquisition’

Before the start of the transfer period, the worst was feared at RSC Anderlecht. After all, the club was in very bad shape financially and so only a very limited budget could be used, while a lot of reinforcement was needed. But so far, the people of Brussels can look back on a very successful mercato.

With about two and a half weeks to go until Deadline Day, RSCA’s homework is almost complete. According to The capital the record champion is considering only one more acquisition: a central defender, preferably someone who is left-footed and who should not cost too much. In the meantime, the club hopes to relaunch Ognjen Vranjes. A good solution in the short term and in addition, the Bosnian in this way becomes more interesting for other clubs, which could be useful in the coming mercato’s.

Furthermore, sports director Peter Verbeke and his team have done a good job on the incoming side, almost all positions are at least double filled. And that while the expenditure was kept under control. With Timon Wellenreuther, for example, a transfer-free second goalkeeper was attracted, so that the club could say goodbye to big earner Thomas Didillon without any problems. The problems surrounding Kemar Lawrence were alleviated with the arrival of Bogdan Mykhaylichenko, another bargain.

In midfield competition was intensified internally with the transfer of Marco Kana and the resurrection of Adrien Trebel. In the front, Lukas Nmecha and Percy Tau (two mercenaries) were again attracted relatively cheap reinforcements. This left enough budget to spend several millions on the arrival of Mustapha Bundu, the most expensive acquisition of the summer. However, if the attacker from Sierra-Leone is able to persevere, the investment will eventually recoup itself.
