It is not Club Brugge’s season for the time being. The reigning champion will have to take a different tune if there is to be played for the title again this season. After the lost cup final and a dramatic 3 out of 9 in the competition, the pressure on blue-black increases.
After the defeat against Beerschot, CEO Vincent Mannaert reminded the players of their duties. The Club board demanded a response to training and in the top match against KRC Genk this weekend.
It is also up to trainer Philippe Clement to prove that he can get his team off the ropes. After all, at a top club like Club Brugge you don’t get much time to turn the tide.
Should Clement fear being fired?
Nevertheless, after the dramatic start to the season, Clement should not fear for his job. He is highly regarded within Club Brugge and is also supported by the board. A dismissal is therefore not imminent.
