Tottenham must overcome two major hurdles if they are to strike a deal for Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic this summer.

For the second consecutive day, the The Spanish media are linking Spurs with a strong interest in the Croatian star.

The 32 years old should leave Barca this summer. With the Catalan giants looking to cash in on a player who is only a year away from his contract.

Sport states that Tottenham have already tried to sign the midfielder, with Jose Mourinho a big fan of Rakitic.

However, the report says the LaLiga team was asking too much at the time.

Rakitic is just one of the best Barcelona stars who have decided to move forward. With the Spurs ready to try their luck again.

The first hurdle they will have to overcome, however, will be the price tag again.

Barca won’t leave Rakitic cheap. This means that Daniel Levy will have to use his legendary negotiation skills to get their price for his suit.

The second is that Rakitic’s former club Sevilla want to bring him back.

The Croatian left the reigning Europa League champions to join Barca in 2014. And the report adds that he would like to return if Sevilla give him the deal if he wants.

Rakitic is, however, intrigued by a move to England and Tottenham would certainly be able to offer a more substantial deal to the player.

Spurs now have to hope Rakitic goes upside down if they are to get one of Mourinho’s best goals this summer.
