The search for a Sheffield United striker takes a new turn with the former PSG striker connected

The search for a new Sheffield United forward Chris Wilder took a turn this morning with news that he is chasing Reading forward Yacou Meite.

The Blades boss has made no secret of the fact that he is targeting players to strengthen his frontline and is currently serving 20-year-old Liverpool’s Rhian Brewster on loan for a season.

Also on the cards is a potential swap deal involving Callum Robinson for West Brom striker Oliver Burke and it has now been revealed that Reading front man is also on his roster.

The 24-year-old began his career with Paris Saint-Germain but only made one senior appearance for the French champions before joining Reading in 2016.

He has really caught the eye in the last two league campaigns for the Royals.

Last season he scored for the club with 17 goals in all competitions, adding to the 13 he scored the previous season.

United have been locked in talks with Reading all summer over a deal for midfielder John Swift.

However, their approach to the former Chelsea has been rejected so far.

Reading needs to move players away from their high wage with concerns that the EFP is keeping an eye on their FFP.
