Tennis returns with the potential confrontation between Serena Williams and Venus Williams

The tennis tour resumed last week in Palermo, and Anett Kontaveit and Fiona Ferro have earned tickets to the singles final. In the following week, a few more women will swing their rackets in Lexington, Kentucky, USA which includes the likes of Serena Williams, Venus Williams, Victoria Azarenka, Sloane Stephens, Johanna Konta, Amanda Anisimova, etc …

Serena was drawn to open against Bernarda Pera. Interestingly, award-winning Grand Slam champions Venus and Victoria will beat their horns in the opening round of the tournament. And after Serena’s first round victory, she could face her sister Venus or her friend and foe Azarenka. If he faces Venus, it would be their 31st meeting with the WTA.

American ace Serena has played some epic games with both Venus and Victoria. The recent against Azarenka at Indian Wells 2019 stunned tennis audiences around the world who had staged a nerve-wracking show in the Californian desert.

In the Top Seed Open, world number nine Serena Williams is the highest seeded. Aryna Sabalenka, Johanna Konta, Amanda Anisimova and Yulia Putintseva occupy the following seed points.

In the quarterfinals, Serena could potentially face her compatriot Sloane Stephens. Anisimova could challenge Putintseva in the round of 16. Sabalenka is expected to face Ons Jabeur from Tunisia and Konta could face Linette.

Additionally, world number 53 and tennis phenomenon Coco Gauff attend Lexington. After winning the first round against a qualifier, she was projected to face world number 11 Sablenka (provided Sablenka wins her first round match against Madison Brengle).

The event in Prague, Czech Republic

At the same time, on the European continent, the Prague Open will kick off in the Czech Republic. World number two Simona Halep will open against Slovenian Polona Hercog. Before the circuit was suspended, Halep won his 20th career WTA singles title at the Dubai Duty-Free Tennis Championships.
