Teen striker confirms Manchester United trial

Teen forward Devon Arnold has confirmed he is on trial with Manchester United as he tries to secure a deal in the summer transfer window.

The 18-year-old striker is being watched by United and made a perfect first impression when he scored the winning goal on his debut.

Arnold played his first game for United U23 on Tuesday and scored the only goal of the match in a 1-0 win over Stoke City.

Going to social media after the game, Arnold uploaded a photo of himself wearing United training gear along with the message: “Today wins 1-0! He played 90 minutes. He scored the goal.”

The teenage striker is a free agent this summer after leaving National League team Yeovil Town on a free transfer at the end of last season.

Arnold made a first-team appearance for the club, becoming Yeovil’s youngest league player when he appeared off the bench in a League Two game against Cheltenham in January 2019.

“I’m still learning the game and always looking at top strikers like Aguero and Kane or someone I feel much more similar in terms of playing style like Jamie Vardy,” he told MTAG Football earlier this year.

“I try to get behind with rhythm and aggression and I try to be very direct in getting the goal because at the end of the day all I want to do is score goals.”

Arnold will look to continue his good start in life at United when U23s move to face Huddersfield in Saturday’s next pre-season match.
