Tompkins entered the NFL with the Philadelphia Eagles, signing as a rookie free agent after the 2019 NFL Draft. He was released before the start of the season, but then landed in the XFL. Thompkins was selected in the fourth round of the 2020 XFL Draft by the DC Defenders and caught seven passes for 85 yards and one touchdown in four games, before their season was cut short.
