Rossi on the Austrian MotoGP incident: I thought it was a helicopter

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –

Veteran racer Valentino Rossi thought a terrible accident at MotoGP Austria 2020 at the Red Bull Ring Circuit, Sunday (16/8), was the shadow of the helicopter.

Rossi almost became a victim of Johann Zarco’s carelessness, who was involved in an unfortunate incident with Petronas racer Franco Morbidelli ahead of Turn 3 of the Austrian MotoGP.

“I’m with [Maverick] “Vinales, we slowed down when we turned the corner 3. I saw a shadow coming, I thought it was the helicopter that used to follow us,” Rossi was quoted as saying Moto.it.

“But it wasn’t. Two things came. I saw Zarco’s motorbike, I didn’t see a Yamaha Morbido motorbike,” Rossi added.

In the uploaded video FOX Sports, Morbidelli’s motorcycle first passed in front of Rossi, before being followed by Zarco’s motorbike that was almost destroyed.

The accident before entering corner 3 of the 2020 Austrian MotoGP occurred because Zarco, who moved wide to the right, made the brakes.

Knowing the action of his competitor, Morbidelli, who was about to overtake, could do nothing but crash into Zarco.

“It’s okay to race aggressively. But in this way you lose respect for your opponent,” said Rossi.

“It is true [perlu] “Racing aggressively on the track, but that’s not good, and Zarco is not a new rider in this,” said Rossi continued.

The 2020 Austrian MotoGP was won by Ducati racer Andrea Dovizioso, followed by Joan Mir from Suzuki and Jack Miller. Meanwhile, Rossi, who started from 10th position, finished fifth.
