Recent Resignation of Former UVa Men’s Tennis Coach Brian Boland From Baylor Follows Student Message Investigation | Sports

After no response from the student, a message from Boland’s phone says, “Haha. Have you recovered yet? HaHa. Or do you see what’s open?”

Again, with no response, a text message from Boland’s phone says, “Hello”. Subsequently, a message says: “Haha”.

The student did not respond to telephone messages this week from the Tribune-Herald.

She wrote a Facebook message to Boland that begins by saying that it took her a long time to decide if she should “even recognize these messages” and what she would say if she did.

“Those messages were not only inappropriate, but extremely unprofessional,” he wrote to Boland on Facebook. “I feel completely disrespected. I contacted you due to our interaction in your office with [another tennis player and friend] and the impression it gave me that you were one of the good guys.

“I briefly shared a story with you and then opened up again when I contacted and said I wanted to join the team. You texted me multiple times at midnight to ask me to meet you in a bar not only made me feel very uncomfortable, but you showed me that you had no interest or intention to help me or take my request seriously. I am once again disappointed in the character and behavior of Baylor’s tennis coaches, ”says the post.

In an email sent to the student by Brianna Gilbreath, case coordinator at Baylor’s Title IX office, Gilbreath said he was “contacting” to provide her with an update.
