Winds from the west of 12 knots of medium intensity and a persistent wave have been the ingredients that have made this opening day a show in the coming and going of the sailors through the regatta area, the same for the fleets in charge of raising the curtain in Cadiz waters; Standard Laser, Radial Laser, Laser 4.7, 420 and Optimist.
After three tests and with the first leaders already on the table, tomorrow Wednesday the Skating class will join us for all of us to continue competing until Thursday, the day on which we will meet the first winners of Nautical Week. The good conditions allowed for the premiere a quick day that passed in front of the Valdelagrana and Levante beaches, and in which the sailors, once they had chosen the board to gain miles on the way to the mark, found the wave and the current the main difficulty of this first day.
The young Patricia Bañez from the RCMT Punta Umbría team is the first classified in the Optimist class after debuting with a second and two first. In class 420, a fleet that also competes for the Andalusian Cup, two victories and a second allow the RCN crew of El Puerto de Santa María, composed of Felipe Sánchez and Pablo López, to take the first step. They are followed with three more points by the brothers Fernando and Carlos Flethes, from CN Puerto Sherry, who reached the long-awaited victory in the third and last race after two third parties. This first podium is completed by the first female crew, made up of Lucía Páez and Ángela Merello (CN Sevilla), second in the first two routes and third in the next, which rents them the same points as their predecessors.
In Laser Radial, the CR Madrid sailor, Alfonso Moreno, has been intractable with three firsts and also achieves a comfortable income of six points since his follower, Jesús Parejo of CN Sevilla, signs three third parties. Tomorrow, Wednesday, the wake-up call to start with the first of the three scheduled regattas will be at 1:00 p.m. for the fleets that face their second day, and two hours later it will be the Skates that start with the first of their two tests which will have the Pepa Bridge as a backdrop. According to the party consulted by the organization, tomorrow will be another day blessed by the good wind in the bay of Cadiz.
