Winds from the west of 12 knots of medium intensity and a persistent wave have been the ingredients that have made this opening day a show in the coming and going of the sailors through the regatta area, the same for the fleets in charge of raising the curtain in Cadiz waters; Standard Laser, Radial Laser, Laser 4.7, 420 and Optimist.

After three tests and with the first leaders already on the table, tomorrow Wednesday the Skating class will join us for all of us to continue competing until Thursday, the day on which we will meet the first winners of Nautical Week. The good conditions allowed for the premiere a quick day that passed in front of the Valdelagrana and Levante beaches, and in which the sailors, once they had chosen the board to gain miles on the way to the mark, found the wave and the current the main difficulty of this first day.

The young Patricia Bañez from the RCMT Punta Umbría team is the first classified in the Optimist class after debuting with a second and two first. It is followed with four more points by the defending champion, Arturo Arauz, from CN Puerto Sherry, who conceded two third and one second. Both open a gap with the third classified, María Castillo from RCMT Punta Umbría, who would have been discarded in luxury to remove an eighth and stay with a fifth and a second. That dismissal that will come with the fourth round would also have been decisive for the winner of the other partial and how the RCMT Punta Umbría sailor leader, Adriana Serra, could look a better place than the 19th of being able to discard an off-line with maximum penalty . At the gates of the podium is Josete Ruiz, from the RCN of El Puerto de Santa María, who starred in a first ‘book’ outing, and Luis Castañeda, from CN Elcano, fourth and fifth respectively, followed by the first Sub 13, the sailor Balearic Leo D’Angelo, who is seconded by the young man from the CDN Punta Umbría Rodrigo Luis González, second Sub 13. The first female in this category is the CN Puerto Sherry sailor Carmen Martín-Prat from the twenty-eighth overall position.

In class 420, a fleet that also competes for the Andalusian Cup, two victories and a second allow the RCN crew of El Puerto de Santa María, composed of Felipe Sánchez and Pablo López, to take the first step. They are followed with three more points by the brothers Fernando and Carlos Flethes, from CN Puerto Sherry, who reached the long-awaited victory in the third and last race after two third parties. This first podium is completed by the first female crew, made up of Lucía Páez and Ángela Merello (CN Sevilla), second in the first two routes and third in the next, which rents them the same points as their predecessors.

In Laser Radial, the CR Madrid sailor, Alfonso Moreno, has been intractable with three firsts and also achieves a comfortable income of six points since his follower, Jesús Parejo of CN Sevilla, signs three third parties. Manuel Belizón, from CN Elcano, follows at one point, who arranged a sixth with two seconds and in fourth place is the first girl, Lucía Van Stuivenberg, from CN Elcano, who uses only two quarters since she retired in the third test.

In Laser 4.7 equality prevails, with a first leadership at the hands of Iván Páez, from the CN El Trocadero de Puerto Real, with 4 points that add two first and one second, followed by the minimum by Juan José Fernández, from CM Almería, winner of the other partial to which it added two seconds. In third place at six points, another sailor from CM Almería is placed, Alejandro Payés (3.3 and 5), and in his wake with one and two more points are his club mates Adriano Giménez and Eduardo Percelay. Impressive performance of the Almeria team that puts their cards on the table in front of the local fleet. In sixth place is the first female, Rocío Van Stuivenberg, from CN Elcano of the Cadiz capital.

Finally, the Laser Standard fleet carried out two tests that ended with the victory of Guillermo Flores (CN Río Piedras), the first unbeaten leader, followed with the same regularity by his teammate in the ‘Clínica Frontela Injerto Capilar’ team, Arturo Martínez, second in the two, and the sailor of the host club Ángel Contreras, third with the same result in both tests.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, the wake-up call to start with the first of the three scheduled regattas will be at 1:00 p.m. for the fleets that face their second day, and two hours later it will be the Skates that start with the first of their two tests which will have the Pepa Bridge as a backdrop. According to the party consulted by the organization, tomorrow will be another day blessed by the good wind in the bay of Cadiz.
