Master coach Wayne Bennett has sensationally reversed his decision never to return to the Broncos and could create a coaching dream team with Kevin Walters.
The Courier Mail reported that Bennett was open to joining the club that fired him two years ago to lead a recovery program after Anthony Seibold’s departure.
Broncos’ great Justin Hodges urged Bennett to return to Red Hill for a coaching partnership with rookie NRL trainer and current Maroons mentor Kevin Walters.

Bennett has a year to close his deal in South Sydney but has made no secret of his desire to continue training after 2021 when he turns 72.
The 70-year-old announced he would never return to Brisbane after the club sensationally fired him for a year to sign his contract and sign then-rookie coach Anthony Seibold.
Seibold’s departure after two years on a five-year contract opened the door for Bennett to return to the club.

Currently, Kevin Walters and Paul Green are considered favorites for the position of head coach for 2021.
“Wayne Bennett is open to returning to the Broncos as coaching director,” Yvonne Sampson confirmed in the Fox League.
“But there are only a few caveats when there are changes to the board that have helped him show the door.”
Mal Meninga is a fan of the idea of bringing Bennett back to develop Kevin Walters in the role of head coach.
“I like it,” said Meninga.
“I commented a few years ago that Wayne was transforming into that role because we didn’t want to lose him from the game.
“He would be great in this role as chief advisor, so from the perspective of the club at the Broncos, a club, I think he was their first coach and has been there for many years.
“He understands your DNA. Then the question arises whether Kevin Walters is the head coach and Wayne is the senior advisor and if they can work together.
“But I like the idea of Wayne Bennett returning to the Broncos.”
Bennett has trained 938 first class games for 575 wins, a success rate of 61.3 percent. Six premierships with the Broncos and one with the Dragons.
