James Hooper undid the Broncos’ disastrous attempt to fire Tevita Pangai Jr. when club director Darren Lockyer curiously threw his support behind the under-attack star.
Pangai Jr. has been dismissed for violating the NRL’s COVID-19 protocols, but it appears that after the Broncos’ botched attempt to fire him, there is an appetite for his redemption.
“Ending the Broncos’ alleged attempt to sack Tevita Pangai was a breeze from the start,” Hooper said on NRL 360.

EARLY MAIL: TWO legend sons could debut, the judiciary change the mass team
“Karl Morris came out and said we were going to terminate the $ 650,000 contract, and then they delivered this piss-weak breach of contract notice that they had to retract and withdraw because it consisted of errors and they realized they weren’t going to stack up .
“They hired someone from HR, not a lawyer, to make it, and when the legal eagles looked at it, they found it wasn’t worth the paper it was written on.
“They had to take it back and Pangai is now waiting to release another breach notification that we believe will contain all COVID-19 violations.”

However, Ben Ikin was stunned to learn that the board is divided over the decision to fire Pangai Jr. Club legend Lockyer is a major proponent of the retired rower.
“What fascinates me is that Tevita Pangai Jr. has Darren Lockyer in the front office,” said Ikin.
“When the Brisbane Broncos filed a breach of contract to get Tevita Pangai out of the club, one board member looks like he’s supporting him.”
Hooper believes the divisions on the board highlight the disharmony in the club during the Broncos seasoning season.
“I think Lockyer is going to be brawling big time for Tevita Pangai Jr,” said Hooper.
“That sums up the Broncos as a club at the moment. They are clearly not united.
“There are holes in the joint everywhere. Paul White hasn’t been seen since he came out after beating the Tigers 48-0 and said we will stay on course.
“I don’t know how this statement will stack in the abundance of time.”
Lara Pitt announced that there is an appetite at the NRL to allow Pangai Jr. to make up for his mistakes if he can agree to strict COVID-19 protocols and reconcile things with the Broncos.
“As far as I know, he’s shown remorse and wants to go back to the bladder,” said Pitt.
“Even if he cannot make a contribution in the field that we know has resigned for an indefinite period.
“I spoke to Andrew Abdo and he said that if Pangai could show he was willing to follow the protocols, the NRL would consider it.”
