Paul Kent and Brent Read were embroiled in a violent conflict six weeks before the 2020 finals series because of the NRL cracking down on Brecher tackles.
According to the new rules, class 1 crushers are now worth 200 points, class 2 crushers 350 points and class 3 500 points.
“These players’ necks are at stake in these tackles,” said Paul Crawley on NRL 360.

“The first grade used to be 100 points, and if you found yourself guilty early on, you didn’t even play a game. Now it’s at least a game ban.
“It’ll stop immediately.”
However, Brent Read believes the final rule change is one too many given that it’s so close to the finals and so many stars are already on the sidelines.
“I don’t like the tackles but I don’t like the rule change,” said Read.
“We currently have enough players out of the game and we have six weeks to reach the final.

“A lot of these classes are when the guys come back on the defensive and are inevitable.”
“They’re preventable,” replied Kent
“The players have always withdrawn into tackles.”
“How is it that there are thousands of tackles per game and only one or two of them?” Crawley added.
“The way to stay in the game is to not do a breaker tackle. It’s 120 kg that falls on my neck. “
“Well then you raise the points for grades two and three, but not for grade one,” Read said.
However, Kent believes it is up to the defending player to avoid injuring the players with the ball.
“The responsibility has to rest with the defender to make sure the ball runner is safe,” said Kent.
“The ball runner has several defenders to worry about. The defender only has to worry about a ball runner.
“When you get into this situation, they get a lock on their back and while they stand still they fall. Don’t let yourself fall, turn with him. “
“It’s six weeks before the final and the game is about to have one more rule change,” said Read.
“You are a professional athlete,” interrupted Kent.
“If they can’t be told in a week to change the way they operate and in a week to be taught how to get that out of the game, they don’t deserve to be in the game.”
