The trading deadline for 2020 is just around the corner. MLB teams have until 4:00 p.m. ET Monday to close trades and upgrade their roster for the September stretch run. This was an unusual season for many reasons, including teams who only had five weeks to evaluate their list before Monday’s close of trading. Here is our trade deadline tracker with all current deals.

Here are the latest rumors. Make sure to check for updates throughout the day.

Rangers discuss Gallo

The Rangers discuss outfielder Joey Gallo in potential trades. reports Jeff Passan from ESPN. With Righty Lance Lynn also available, an executive told Passan that the Rangers “hold the keys to the deadline.” They have potential influencers for teams in postseason races. The 26-year-old Gallo will be under team control as a referee-capable player until 2022. So he’s not a rental company, and that increases the price. Texas have lost 11 of their last 13 games to get out of postseason racing.

Dodgers checked into Hader

The Dodgers are among the teams at Brewers who turn closer to Josh Hader. according to Jon Heyman of MLB Network. USA Today’s Bob Nightengale According to reports, there are “growing sentiment” strife could be acted on before the deadline. The price is high, of course, as Hader remains an elite and is under team control as a referee-capable player until 2023.

Milwaukee has lost six of its last 10 games but remains in the postseason position. Trading Hader would reportedly reduce the Brewers’ chances after the season, despite GM David Stearns being among the most creative leaders in the sport, and trading Hader against several young MLB pieces could be a net positive. The Dodgers are a powerhouse and Hader would be an upgrade to their already excellent bullpen.

D-Backs open to trading with Bradley, Marte

Headshot picture

The Diamondbacks are open to trading with Archie Bradley and Center Fielder Starling Marte. reports Ken Rosenthal from The Athletic. Bradley will be able to referee next year, and Marte’s contract includes a $ 12.5 million club option for 2021, so none of the players are rental. Arizona has lost nine of its last 10 games, and FanGraphs estimates the club’s post-season rate at 11.5 percent.

Bullpen help is always in demand at close of trading, and the Bradley numbers market is robust. A quality helper with an additional year of control is very valuable. Joel Sherman from the New York Post The Yankees are reportedly among the teams who need to check-in at Marte, likely because Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton are injured and weeks away from their return.

White Sox, Padres, Braves pursue Clevinger

Headshot picture

The White Sox are chasing Cleveland right-handed Mike Clevinger, according to USA Today’s Bob Nightengale. Nightengale says Chicago would “likely” send outfielder Adam Engel and “maybe” pitching prospect Michael Kopech to Cleveland. MLB Network’s Jon Heyman says It is increasingly assumed that Clevinger will trade before the deadline. He adds that the team was ready to discuss Francisco Lindor as well, but the price is high and a Lindor deal is viewed as a long shot.

Also add the padres to the list of applicants. after Joel Sherman of the New York Postwho says the padres are some of the most serious who show interest. Jon Morosi and other reports from the Braves are also under discussion.

The 29-year-old Clevinger has achieved an ace level since 2017 and will do so again in 2020. However, it has also been downgraded to an alternate location after violating the COVID-19 protocols (no less in Chicago). The downgrade itself isn’t necessarily what motivates a trade – Cleveland is full of young pitchers and desperately in need of local help – though it likely hasn’t improved its chances of staying on the team. Engel is a nice role player and Kopech, who has retired from the season, is a very respected prospect.

Chicago and Cleveland are, of course, rivals to AL Central. In fact, Cleveland is right now and the ChiSox are just one game behind. Both are a strong bet to qualify for the extended postseason, and the Clevinger discussions show that neither team is afraid to trade with a division rival.

As for the Padres, Clevinger would become someone who could anchor rotation in the playoffs as it becomes more and more likely that they would head in that direction for the first time since 2006. Chris Paddack has struggled at times this season so Clevinger becomes a nice player to hit 1-2 with Dinelson Lamet in a playoff rotation while trying to sort things out with Paddack.

For the Braves, rotation was an issue for most of the season, especially after ace Mike Soroka lost to a ripped Achilles. Morosi says Cleveland asked about outfielder Drew Waters. He is widely considered to be one of the top 50 in baseball. Last year, Waters beat .309 / .360 / .481 in Double-A and Triple-A with 35 doubles, nine triples, five homers and 13 steals in 134 games.

Lynn is increasingly traded

Headshot picture

Rangers right-handed Lance Lynn is increasingly trading ahead of Monday’s deadline. reports Jon Morosi from MLB.com. Morosi adds The Dodgers checked in. Lynn has been a revelation since joining Texas last season, and he’s a workhorse too. He throws at least 100 pitches in 32 consecutive starts dating back to last season. No other pitcher has thrown at least 100 pitches in more than seven starts.

Lynn, 33, has one more year of contract and owes an extremely affordable $ 8 million in 2021. Between salary and performance, its commercial value is very high. The White Sox are supposed to be interested in Lynn and the bet here is that pretty much every competing team will check in with the Rangers by the deadline. This is a thin trading market for starting mugs and Lynn is a true differentiator.

Red Sox probably won’t deal with Bogaerts, Martinez

Headshot picture

Despite being stuck in the American League basement between 11 a.m. and 10 p.m., the Red Sox are unlikely to trade with stars Xander Bogaerts and JD Martinez before close of trading. according to Jon Heyman of MLB Network. Boston has treated aides Heath Hembree and Brandon Workman, and first baseman Mitch Moreland. Rentals like Jackie Bradley Jr., Martin Perez and Kevin Pillar could also be traded.

The 27-year-old Bogaerts is in the first year of his six-year extension of $ 120 million. The contract gives him full trade protection when he hits seven years of service in the next month and includes an opt-out after 2022, making the factors difficult. Martinez is in a similar situation as he owes nearly $ 40 million over the next two years. He can also opt out this winter, as unlikely as that may be.

Blue Jays, Yankees check into Villar

Headshot picture

The Blue Jays appear to be the favorite to finish last in the American League playoffs. That doesn’t stop them from looking for upgrades. According to Joe Frisario from MLB.comThe Blue Jays and Yankees are among the teams visiting Jonathan Villar of the Marlins.

Villar, an end-of-season free agent, has hit .272 / .328 / .360 (90 OPS +) while performing for the fish on shortstop, second base and center field. He appears to be a practical player, available for either the Blue Jays or the Yankees, both of whom have no starting stops due to injury.

The Marlins also want to receive calls about some of their pitchers, including Caleb Smith and Brandon Kintzler.

Braves add Milone, who is interested in Musgrove

Headshot picture

The Braves have acquired the left Tommy Milone from the Orioles for two players who will later be named, the team said. Atlanta is also interested in pirate Righty Joe Musgrove, according to Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. It goes without saying that trading in Milone would not preclude trading in Musgrove.

Baltimore has an outside chance in the postseason But this is still a year of rebuilding, and Milone has built some value over the past few weeks. Instead of keeping it – or even adding to it – and running a run, the Orioles have redeemed it as a trading chip. The Braves need rotation assistance if Mike Soroka and Cole Hamels are injured, and Mike Foltynewicz, Sean Newcomb and Kyle Wright will all be demoted.

As for Musgrove, the 27-year-old is expected to soon return from a battle with tricepsitis. He allowed 11 runs in just 14 2/3 innings prior to injury that year, but is one analytical darling and will remain under team control until 2022. Milone is a rental with an affordable one-year contract. Musgrove is more of a long-term supplement.

Padres acquire Moreland, Castro

Headshot picture

The Padres have taken over first baseman Mitch Moreland from the Red Sox and catcher Jason Castro from the Angels. Boston received Hudson Potts and Jeisson Rosario in return. The return of the angels to Castro is unknown to us at this point in time. Eric Hosmer has been excellent this year, but San Diego got an overwhelming production from the DH commercial, so Moreland will be helping there. The Padres sit in 4th place in the extended postseason field, and Moreland and Castro are more about getting the team in the best possible position to have a deep postseason run than after any last regular win of the season.

Boys get Martinez

Headshot picture

The Cubs have taken over left stomper Jose Martinez from the Rays. Tampa Bay will receive two players who will later be named in return. Chicago has fought mightily against left-handers this season, and Martinez, a career batsman of .319 / .392 / .554 against Southpaws, should help correct that. The Rays clear a roster seat for Randy Arozarena, who stopped by with Martinez at an off-season deal. Arozarena is a right hitter like Martinez, but offers more defensive and base value.

Rockies add givens

Headshot picture

The Rockies have taken over legal assistant Mychal Givens from the Orioles, according to several reports. Baltimore is getting infield prospects like Tyler Nevin and Terrin Vavra in trade, as well as a player who is later named. Colorado’s bullpen has been stable this season thanks to Daniel Bard’s revival and the creation of Jairo Diaz and Yency Almonte, but there is always room for improvement. Givens is not a rental company and will remain under team control for the next season as an eligible player.
