Coach Mike McCarthy held his first press conference since training began with a midday media session on Saturday and will have another on Sunday at 7:15 a.m.

But McCarthy was able to answer many questions arising from Friday’s first practice. Here are some of the highlights from the Cowboys head coach on Saturday:

- McCarthy said he’s always been a coach who devoted more time to special teams than others in the league. But now, without preseason games, he said there would be even more time associated with the kicking game. “We have spent more time on special teams than in the past. As we progress through training camp, the competitive periods… we will get as close to the game as possible. ”
- La’el Collins has “an injury he’s been working on”, so McCarthy phrased his answer when asked what the correct starting tackle was. And even when asked again to be more specific, the coach reiterated that it was not a serious injury but did not specify the actual setback.
- Red quarterback jerseys became a hot topic on Friday when Dak and his teammates got down to training. McCarthy simply called it a preference. “It’s just something, frankly, that’s been done everywhere I’ve worked. I think that identifies the goal when you get into the team times.
