Mason Mount’s potential to be a great Chelsea like Ben Chilwell’s upcoming move attracts reaction

Here’s your Chelsea morning summary for Monday 24th August.

Mason Mount’s potential to be a great Blues

Perhaps Frank Lampard’s most important achievement during his first season in office was the development of some of the club’s promising youngsters.

Chelsea have long been criticized for their reluctance to blood their own academic products, but Lampard lived up to his word in bringing in some of those talented youngsters.

Nine players made their Chelsea debut last season: Tino Anjorin; Armando Broja; Marc Guehi; Tariq Lamptey; Ian Maatsen; Billy Gilmour; Reece James; Fikayo Tomori and Mason Mount.

And it’s that surname that was the real breakthrough and Mount has the potential to become a true Chelsea great.

The England international looks set to be the next new signing to cross the Stamford Bridge threshold, with a deal on a £ 50m deal rumored to be in place.

The transfer could be completed as early as next week which means Chilwell will become a Chelsea player in time for the new season.

And a forgotten blue has apparently given his signing approval, while Liverpool winger Andy Robertson believes Chelsea are getting one of the three best left-backs in the world.

Blues close to receiving a cash injection

While it sure looks like a great summer for Lampard and Chelsea when it comes to new arrivals, the Blues have yet to raise money by downloading some players.

Tiemoue Bakayoko, a man Chelsea fans could be forgiven for forgetting was still at the club, certainly seems to be one of those leading the way.
