Manchester United joins the race for PSG midfielder Idrissa Gueye and other transfer rumors

Manchester United will compete with Wolves for the signing of Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Idrissa Gueye, according to reports.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is hoping to improve his squad this summer to organize a Premier League title challenge next season and, in addition to a new winger and attacking midfielder, would like to add a midfielder to his ranks.

Jude Bellingham was United’s top target for the position, but the teenage prodigy opted to join Borussia Dortmund instead, which resulted in the club being linked to a number of alternatives.

The latest name to re-emerge is PSG’s pugnacious defensive midfielder Gueye who, according to Le10Sport, via The Sun, will be moved by Parisians this summer.

The decision would seem strange as the former Everton player has made an often wobbly PSG much more solid in defensive terms this season, but sporting director Leonardo has been reported to be looking to overhaul midfield.

PSG’s defeat could be United’s gain and they are said to be looking to bring Gueye back to the Premier League after just one season in France, although they will reportedly face competition from Wolves, with an exit set for negotiations after the end of their Champions League campaign.

MEN Sport does not currently understand that Gueye is a target and, at 29, is not in the club’s ideal age group for new signings.

Meanwhile, Bournemouth have turned down Sheffield United’s offer for goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, according to Sky Sports.

Promising young United goalkeeper Dean Henderson spent the season on loan at Bramall Lane and played an important role in their fantastic season, earning a nomination for the Premier League Young Player of the Year award.

Chris Wilder’s squad is reported to be looking to add a new goalkeeper this summer and recent news suggests Henderson will return to Old Trafford to take on David De Gea next season.
