Man Utd News: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer disagrees with Dean Henderson’s plan for next season | Football | Sport

Henderson conceded 33 goals in 36 appearances for the Blades, keeping 13 clean sheets in the process, to earn a nomination for the Premier League Young Player of the Year.

The man he is trying to usurp at Old Trafford, David De Gea, has leaked three more goals in two more appearances, while a series of high-profile gaffes prompted people to ask for a change between clubs.

To complicate matters further, Henderson still has two years to execute his contract and interest to mount for his signature.

According to Daily Star, the promising Brit is eager to return to his home club to compete with De Gea for a spot on the squad.

Solskjaer is alleged to disagree, however, because he wants Henderson to go out on loan for at least one more season to continue to gain regular playing time.

A new goalkeeper to challenge De Gea is also spotted by the Norwegian. Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret would have been identified.

The United boss had previously admitted that the club had awarded Henderson the long-term number one.

“Dean has made some great choices over the years and has developed in a fantastic way,” Solskjaer said.

“We are looking at that in terms of where next season will be, but so far it hasn’t been decided.

“This season has been a great experience for him, he has done himself a favor with his performances and has shown that at some point he will be England’s No.1 and Man United’s No.1.”

Henderson is an ambitious individual and is determined to take De Gea’s place in goal.

“I think it’s clear to everyone. I want to play for Manchester United and England,” he said.

“I feel like I’m always bumping into a brick wall. Maybe I’ll have the opportunity [to play for Man United], maybe I won’t, so I’ll have to look another way.

“Fans have to remember what it is [De Gea] done over the past nine years – it’s been phenomenal.

“He was probably United’s best player for that period of time. He should have another chance.

“I’m a young boy. I’m working hard. I’m a fan of the club and I want to play for them. I hope to have a career at Man United like David de Gea’s.”

Chelsea are monitoring Henderson looking for a replacement for Kepa Arrizabalaga.
