Twenty-seven-year-old Maguire was arrested in Greece last week. The footballer first came into conflict with other tourists, then, according to the accusation, first verbally and finally physically attacked the intervening police officers. His brother Joe and another Brit were detained with him.

The world’s most expensive defender, who denied the allegations, spent two days in custody in Greece. After his release, he was able to return to his homeland and was represented in court by a lawyer. The meeting lasted more than seven hours.

Despite the affair, national team coach Gareth Southgate nominated Maguire for the League of Nations matches in September. However, after announcing the verdict, he eliminated players from the duel team against Iceland and Denmark.
