Liverpool full signing by Kostas Tsimikas

Liverpool FC have signed a long-term contract with Olympiacos left-back Kostas Tsimikas.

The 24-year-old Greek international, who has been capped three times by his country, is joining the Premier League champions after signing a deal with Melwood today.

Tsimikas made his Olympiacos debut in December 2015, playing 86 games for the Greek team in all competitions.

More than half of those games took place in 2019-20 as the defender helped his club regain the national title by 18 points.

He will now bond with his new teammates as Jurgen Klopp’s squad prepares for the upcoming campaign and defense of their Premier League title.

“I am very happy, I am very proud to be here. For me, [it’s] the largest club in the world. It’s an honor to be here and I’ll do my best, ”Tsimikas said in an exclusive interview to Liverpoolfc.com after the transfer was completed.

“I like the league here a lot. I watch it on TV and it was always a dream I had when I was a kid to play and get through this league.

“With a lot of work and concentration on what I do and what the trainer wants, and every day that works hard in training, I can be at the highest level.

“[I want] to reach [our] Gates. To win the league again and also to win the Champions League. “

At the beginning of his career, Tsimikas was on loan for the Danish team Esbjerg and the Dutch club Willem II and started all but two games in the 2017/18 season.

In October 2018 he made an international debut for Greece, having previously represented his country at U19 and U21 levels.

The defender will wear the No. 21 shirt for Liverpool.
