Liepāja football fans: What is the vision of FK ‘Liepāja’?

Amber City Fan Club, a supporter group of the Optibet football league, Liepāja, has published an open letter asking questions about the organization’s vision. The portal “Delfi” republishes the letter in its entirety.

Just as comets with a certain regularity threaten the trajectory of the earth, various conditions shake Liepaja’s football. World War II – for the first time. The ambition of the “Red Metallurgist” to form a master team in the 60’s – for the second time. The “Olympic” crash – in 1994 – for the third time. Insolvency of “Liepājas” metallurgist in 2013 – for the fourth time.

However, the next crisis has come too soon. That is why we – real Liepaja football patriots from Liepaja, Skrunda, Kuldiga and even Pieriga – want to express our active civic position. All due respect to Māris Verpakovskis, Viktors Dobrecovs and Liepāja City Council, who pulled the football to the LC gold within 2 years. But then the unwanted stage of the organization’s life cycle began. Ambition turned into complacency. Errors in regularities. Tactics about self-deception.
It is undeniable that globally correct decisions – to sell the club to a more solvent football patron (O. Hramov) and changes in the issue of the Premier League legionnaire’s limit – also determined the order of things, but it must be said openly what failed. The activities of any self-respecting organization are based on the culture and ethics of the organization. This means that mistakes can be made, that mistakes need to be acknowledged and corrected.

Looking at the table and not only that, looking at the dynamics of team development, we want to help and participate in a discussion with the club management on such issues.

[1] Selection

Liepāja football has always made a significant contribution from the local academy. The involvement of technical Southerners, especially Argentines, is also to be welcomed, compensating for the gaps in football skills that our home players see in the palm of their hand in national team games. There is no bad idea of an academy branch or scout point in Africa. All this can yield results, followed by rising profitability. At the same time, the basic principles of selection and target directions cause confusion. So it has happened that the Liepāja team has a number of masterful players, but all of them are shorter than 1.80, which drastically reduces the diversity of the game and the overall competitiveness of the team. We see it in defense, we see it especially at the corner kicks on both goals, where our balance is devastating, especially this season. We are very fascinated by the team’s ability to control the ball in any game and against any opponent, but it does not work.

The current selection has led to everyone being put under protection. This letter was not the result of one of two games … Reggae took 2 minutes to hit. Uldriķis a little more to solve the task for his team. All teams now know that they have to wait for the corner against Liepāja. Our current attack leaders must constantly fight with Jagodiniski, Preng, Stugli for the second floor bombs. Anyway, even in the game already in Ventspils – ie a whole circle back – there was a lack of game variety. Game on the ground. Game through the air. But there is only a game on the ground, because on the 2nd floor we have no chance at all.

The common uncertainty of what to do when approaching the penalty area is clearly visible, the men drop the speed because they ran, did not raise their heads, and then look for partners, although there must be work right right next to the penalty area. But it is not, because not once can we play, as this season does in the automatism “Tukums”, “Metta”, “Valmiera”, not to mention the flagships, who know how to get to 2-3 taps, which are made after 2-3 taps, gate. In our game you can’t notice what is drawn or taught in training, so there is a point 2.

Our questions:
– What are the goals of FK “Liepāja” player selection?
– What is the main source of player resources?
– Who determines the selection priorities?
– Is selection related to improving team performance in specific time periods?

[2] Coaches

Liepāja football has achieved its highest success only with excellent coaches. Fisher, Messenger, Ptičkin, Zjalkēvičs, Abramčiks. Dobrecov showed himself very well in the short stage. Our team has been looking for a good coach for 2 full years. It does not go unnoticed. The game’s handwriting is not formed. Leaders are not growing. It is not grateful to start the season with a newly appointed coach, but the first 3 games were still hopeful. And then very incomprehensible things started in the team, which on average were seen by football experts as the best behind both Riga. Players don’t concentrate here. Not motivated here. Here are motivated, but do not know what to do on the field.

Changes in game tactics occur with 2 to 3 game delays. We are deeply grateful that the team has finally eliminated the huge dribbling of the ball, although everyone knows that passing is faster than dribbling. However, in the second game with RFS, where our ball control is over 60%, there were 1.5 dangerous moments. It is obvious that our players are under attack. There are extremely few kicks in the gate frame.

The coach must be prepared to play different tactics, not continue to change from small to small on the field. Completely different options emerged in the last game against RFS in the attack, omitting a 6-foot-long debutant.

Our questions:
What are the principles for choosing coaches?
How is the coach’s work evaluated?
Is the coach’s work subordinate to the tournament table or based on other goals more?

[3] True friends are seen in sorrow.

At the moment, Liepāja football is in big trouble. In addition to the success of the team, we are all interested in keeping, not losing, neutral fans and fans in Kurzeme! Local Liepāja football friends are also starting to chill against the Liepāja sports flagship, seeing the team’s heavy stagnation.

It is very important to raise the prestige of football and fans, which means to maximally support active sponsorship in Liepaja and other Virsliga team cities. Siauliai children in the stadium, in front of the locals who remained behind the gate, is an unacceptable case.

All the signatories here have never sat on their tongues and swallowed a pen in favor of Liepāja football.

Our questions:
1. How does the club see the recovery of loud and full stands?
2. Will the club’s attributes be offered this year as well?
3. Is the fan club “Amber City” a part of the FC “Liepāja” system or only a fan’s own initiative?

We will be at the Liepāja championship games, we will sing about our Amber City, but we demand more active changes at the top of the Liepāja football pyramid – FK “Liepāja”!

PS is available to coach Viktors Dobrecovs who has given his heart to Liepāja a lot, both as a footballer and as a coach and is available.

Respectfully,
“Amber City FanClub” and Liepāja’s most active Fans.
