Latvian national football player Tarasovs will continue his career in the Finnish champion “KuPS” – Football

Latvian national football player Igors Tarasovs will continue his career in the Finnish champion Kuopio “Palloseura” (“KuPS”), the club informs.

The contract with 31-year-old Tarasov, who plays in the positions of defender and midfielder, is concluded until the end of the season with the possibility to extend it.

At the beginning of the year, Tarasov joined Kaposvar ‘s “Rakoci”, the last league in Hungary’ s top league, in which he played seven games. Before that, Tarasovs played the second half of 2019 in the “Spartaka” team of Jūrmala, as a member of which he played in ten games and scored three goals.

Tarasov spent the previous two seasons in the Polish top league, representing Wrocław “Šlask”, which was joined in the summer of 2017. For him, it was a return to Poland, because before that he had spent a year and a half at the Jagiellonia club in Białystok, but in the middle of that he spent one season in the second division of Turkey.

During his career, Tarasov has also represented the clubs of Azerbaijan and Belarus, as well as played for the “Skonto” and “Ventspils” teams in the Latvian Football Super League.

Tarasov is a two-time champion of the Latvian Football Super League and a two-time winner of the Latvian Cup in the ranks of “Skonto” and “Ventspils” clubs. Igors Tarasovs has played 170 games and scored 23 goals in the Latvian Football Premier League.

Tarasovs has played 34 matches and scored one goal in the Latvian national team.

Last year, KuPS won its sixth Finnish championship title, returning to the throne after a 43-year break. Kuopio footballers are the leaders of the Finnish championship after eight rounds, but next week in the first round of the UEFA Champions League qualifiers they will compete with the strong Norwegian team “Molde”.
