Joel Embiid leaves the 76ers blazer with an ankle injury

Philadelphia’s injury report continues to be extended. The day after All-Star Guardian Ben Simmons left Orlando for knee surgery, Joel Embiid was forced to leave Sunday’s game against Portland with a left ankle injury. He wasn’t going back.

Averaging 30.0 points and 13.5 rebounds since the 2019-20 season resumed, Embiid seeks to lead Philadelphia to a favorable playoff positioning in the Eastern Conference. In the game on Sunday, the 76ers sat in sixth place, half a game behind Indiana and Miami. Should they finish sixth, the Sixers would face the Boston Celtics in the first round of the playoffs.

Philadelphia had won three times in a row on Sunday.
