The San Francisco 49ers must put any remaining pass catchers in bubble wrap until the start of the season.
The Niners suffered another injury to their wide receivers.
Coach Kyle Shanahan said on KNBR on Friday that newly signed wide receiver JJ Nelson would be out for two weeks to one month with a knee injury, by Matt Barrows of The Athletic.
Additionally, George Kittle continues to face a hamstring injury. Shanahan told reporters it was just tension and nothing was pulled or strained.
It’s the recipient body that’s a bigger problem for Shanahan.
Nelson was signed two weeks ago to add depth after injuries accumulated. Instead, he becomes the last Niner to be bitten by the Injury Virus.
Deebo Samuel (foot), Brandon Aiyuk (hamstrings), Jalen Hurd (ACL ripped on IR) and Richie James (wrist) were also all out of practice due to injuries.
San Francisco added receivers Kevin White and River Cracraft on Thursday. That may not be enough, as the 49ers seemingly lose a gap every other day.
