Seventy boats from the Cantabrian, Galician and Portuguese fleets on the starting line, in which she is the doyen of Galician regattas; traditionally considered the most important in Spain, as a “stage regatta”… in this peculiar year it has undoubtedly become the benchmark for all peninsular heavy sailing.

The meteorological forecast that foresees 10-knot northwesterly winds, indicates that the fleet should begin arriving at Combarro in the early afternoon, and since the Organization has planned more routes for fast boats and a delay of half an hour in departure, everything is planned for a joint arrival of the fleet.

It is also necessary to highlight that the great French judge based in Palma de Mallorca, Ariane Mainemare, is the main official of this Rías Baixas. The gala belongs to a family that lives for sailing… her parents were senior managers of the International Federation and her sister is the director of regattas at the Real Club Náutico de Palma. Among the favorites are the “ourensanos” from “Aceites Abril” with the Pérez Canal brothers in command, the winners in 2019 of the 0-1-2 classes. Ramón Ojea del Marítimo de Canido’s “Bosch Service Solutions”, who has just won the Rías Altas and won last season’s Rías Baixas in his category, also does not miss the appointment. The Coruña representation was very strong, starting with the “Bionic Alk”, the Baltic 56 winner of Finisterre, as well as with “Alma do Mar” by Nito Enriquez, “Cachete” by Fran Edreira, “Lambaix”, “Salseiro” or the “ Bodegas Benito Santos ”patronized by Jorge Etcheverría, Guillermo Blanco’s“ Atlántico 3D Printing ”… from the Real Club Náutico de La Coruña, Club Náutico de Sada or Club Marítimo La Penela de Cabanas.

On the part of the Basque Country there are several ships, the case of the one headed by the navigator of Fly to the World Unai Basurko… the one from Portugalete will compete with the cruise ships. Another of the boats to consider is the “Arroutado” by José Manuel Pérez from the Real Club Náutico de Portosín, or the “Burla Negra” from the Club Náutico Castrelo de Miño, Ourense.

“Juancamaría” by Juan Carlos Pérez Olmedo from the Combarro Yacht Club, is also one of those who count to enter the podium. It is also necessary to highlight the ships of the Spanish Navy of the Naval Military School of Marín: “Villa de Marín” a Hanse 470 and the Sun Odissey 52 “Blanca”.
