Walter Botass showed the fastest lap time in the first practice before the Spanish GP, beating his teammate Luis Hamilton.
The two Mercedes drivers were separated by 0.039s, while the previous stage winner Max Verstapen was in third place and 0.939 seconds from Botas. The best lap times were shown with the softest (C3) red marking tires.
Ferrari pilots were originally the closest followers of the Mercedes duo before Verstapen made their flying lap. In the end, Lekler finished fourth, Vettel remained fifth, and Haas pilot Romens Grožāns showed an amazing sixth lap time.
Among others, Israeli Roy Nisani participated in the training as part of the Williams team instead of George Russell, who remained in the last place, but only 0.3s behind his teammate Nicolas Latifi.
