Here’s the chronology of consecutive collisions in Moto 2 involving Andi Gilang

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Moto2 racer from Indonesia, Andi Gilang was involved in the successive collisions that occurred in the Austrian Series race at the Red Bull Ring circuit, last Sunday. The collision involved four racers who ultimately could not continue the race.

The collision began when the Italtrans team racer, Enea Bastianini, exited the first corner in the fourth round. The front tire of the Bastianini motorbike experienced a highside so that it fell and fell off the motorbike.

Bastianini actually fell by himself, but the accident turned into a disaster because the distance between the riders was still very short and they immediately stepped on the gas after the corner.

Moreover, the motorbike driven by Bastianini was not thrown out of the track. Large pieces of motorbikes lying in the middle of the track and into the racing track. Bastianini himself moved quickly by running to the edge of the track.

Several riders behind Bastianini managed to avoid the pieces of the motorbike. Unfortunately for Malaysian racer Hafizh Syahrin.

The Aspar racer had his eyes blocked by the racer in front of him so that he failed to dodge and immediately lunged at Bastianini’s motorbike.

The motorbike was smashed to pieces and he immediately bounced off the edge of the track.

Andi Gilang, who was behind Syahrin, actually managed to avoid Bastianini’s motorbike, but he finally fell while trying to avoid a collision with Syahrin’s body.

Not only Andi Gilang, the Gresini team racer, Edgar Pons, also had to drop himself to avoid running over Syahrin.

The race was also stopped. The race supervisor raised the red flag and the racers returned to their respective garages.

Syahrin suffered serious injuries, who was immediately taken to the treatment room for medical tests. Meanwhile, Bastianini, Andi Gilang and Edgar Pons did not experience significant injuries.

However, they could not continue racing. Through uploads on his Instagram account, Andi Gilang also stated that he was in good condition and promised to look even better in the next series.

“Alhamdulillah. I am fine. Thank you for all your support, next week I will try to be better,” he said.

The Austrian Moto2 race itself was finally won by the Red Bull KTM racer, Jorge Martin. Valentino Rossi’s younger brother, Luca Marini, is in second place and third place is occupied by the Liqui Moly Intact GP team racer, Marces Schrotter.
