Golden Knights play blues or canucks in the Western Second Round

The Vegas Golden Knights play the St. Louis Blues or Vancouver Canucks in the second round of the Western Conference.

Vegas, number 1 this postseason 7-1, defeated the Chicago Blackhawks in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs in five games.

Vancouver, number 5, leads St. Louis, number 4, in this best-of-7 series with Game 6 on Friday (9:45 p.m. ET; NBCSN, CBC, SN, FS-SW).

Mark Stone (four goals, four assists) and Reilly Smith (three goals, five assists) lead the Golden Knights this postseason with eight points each. Shea Theodore (four goals, three assists) and Jonathan Marchessault (two goals, five assists) have each scored seven points, and Alex cloth has scored four goals. Robin Lehner is 5-1-0 with 2.44 goals against the average and a saving of 0.904 percent. Marc-Andre Fleury is 2-0-0 with an ATM of 2.50 and savings of 0.886 percent.

The Golden Knights won two of three games against the Blues that season with 26 goals scored. Stone had five templates and Max Pacioretty (three goals, one assist) and Chandler Stephenson (one goal, three assists) scored four points each. Fleury was 1-1-0 with an GAA of 3.98 and a savings of 0.867 percent.

Ryan O’Reilly had six templates and Zach Sanford scored four goals against the Golden Knights. Jordan Binnington was 1-0-1 with an ATM of 3.92 and a savings percentage of 0.901. Jake Allen allowed five goals in 33 shots in a 5-4 overtime loss Jan. 4.

The Golden Knights were 1-0-1 against the Canucks, with 18 goals scored. Pacioretty (two goals, three assists) led Vegas on five points, and Stone (two goals, two assists) and Theodore (four assists) each scored four points. Marchessault and Nick Holden each scored two goals. Fleury started every game (3.96 GAA, save 0.873 percent).

Brock Boeser led the Canucks with four points (one goal, three assists) and Elias Pettersson (three goals) and Jake Virtanen (one goal, two assists) scored three points each against the Golden Knights. Jacob Markstrom started every game (1-1-0, 4.81 GAA, save 0.890 percent).

Vegas has never played in the playoffs against St. Louis or Vancouver.

The Best of 7 series will be played on Rogers Place in Edmonton, the hub of the Western Conference.
